Twitterville Talk #38

Twitter has opened up a whole new world of connections, immediate connections in the world of books, libraries, and newest technologies.  This week is no different from any other.  Enjoy your weekend; relax and read.  After all, this is March.

From a tweeter that I neglected to note this article about Tomi Ungerer, renaissance man of children's book illustration.  From his website we read:  In 2003 the Council of Europe chose Tomi Ungerer as their first Ambassador for Childhood and Education and in 2007 the Tomi Ungerer Museum in Strasbourg opened its doors to the public and has since been voted one of the 10 best museums in Europe by the Council of Europe.

This past Monday, February 26, 2012 was National Tell A Fairy Tale Day.  At The Hub, blog of the YALSA, Young Adult Library Services Association, is a listing of some of the newer fairy tale novels to add to your reading pile even though the day has past.

This spoof on a fragrance straight from the Library of Congress is over the top.

I have always been a fan of the search tool, Bing.  But if you are worried about the new privacy policy at Google, this article, Wary of Google? Try These Alternative Search Tools, written by Gary Price for The Digital Shift courtesy of  School Library Journal should be helpful.

The best news of the week came on Sunday, 'Hugo' Walks Away with Five Oscars; 'The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr. Morris Lessmore' Wins Best Animated Short.

It has begun and the tension mounts, School Library Journal's Battle of the Kids' Books, Judges and Brackets and Super Fans, Oh My!  These are some of the year's best titles fighting it out for the final winning spot.

The call went out and the response is fantastic.  Re-Seussification Project:  The Results posted at A Fuse #8 Production by New York Public Library's Youth Materials Specialist, Elizabeth Bird, at School Library Journal illustrates what artists have done with the work of Seuss using other illustrator's styles.
